"What stereotypes do people have about you? What stereotypes do you have about other people? Are stereotypes beneficial or harmful? Why do you think this?"
Usually people have Asian stereotypes against me, that I am strong at mathematic and good at memorization.
Also because of my physical appearance, I am mostly looked upon as short little girl. Due to stereotype, others around me tend to set high expectations for me, even when I don’t meet those requirements.
Likewise, I tend to form standards of other people based on their physical image and conventional notion. However the physical appearance sometimes is far from what that person really is inside. First impression mostly determines that person’s perception.
Most of the times, stereotypes are harmful, because they hurt the other’s feelings. Not only myself, but also with others, many people tend to construct stereotype on other people by their first impression, which isn’t always correct. However there are few rare occasions when some are benefited by its stereotypes. For instance, for those who implant positive impression, therefore giving favorable stereotype. Nevertheless, preconception for any type of thing is damaging. No one knows what, or who the person (thing) is unless they deal with the matter. Assumption is never advantageous, although it may give bit of idea, in terms of prediction, which also is insecure.
