Radio transmits signals that carry information systematically by changing some properties of the radiated waves, such as amplitude, frequency, or phase. The signals are then converted into sound that carries information. Radio can be used in three different fields: electromagnetic waves and experimentation; wireless communication and technical development; and radio broadcasting and commercialization. Today, radio takes many forms such as radio broadcasting, wireless networks and mobile communications of all types. Before the television was invented, commercial radio broadcasts included not only news and music but also several forms of entertainment like oral dramas. Radio is unique among methods of dramatic presentation in that its only medium is sound.
